CSR initiative by Garodi Steels, Mangalore
Garodi steel, a leading steel distributor of Karnataka, along with JSW steel, undertook a corporate social responsibility initiative, in providing an emergency vehicle for the use of COVID patients who needed help in times of crisis.
The vehicle was inaugurated by Hon. MLA Mr. Umanath Kotian from Moodbidri constituency and Hon. MLA Mr. Bharath Shetty from Mangalore North Constituency.
The vehicle, equipped with required life support system, would be placed at the disposal of the health department, and could be used to transport patients in the need of urgent medical care to hospitals and other care facilities. The vehicle is air conditioned, and is equipped with an oxygen generator to cater to patients with respiratory issues. It is spacious enough to accommodate medical person and also member of the family. This vehicle would be of great use to the low income category, and the migrant labor population in the district
The entire cost of running the vehicle would be borne by Garodi steel, while the medical staff would be provided by the hospital which would use the vehicle.
Handing over the vehicle to the District commissioner, Mr. Manoj Kumar, MD of Garodi steel said that every organization should do its bit in helping the people in the time of the pandemic. He added that many people; particularly in remote locations were facing challenges in getting patients to hospitals in time for lifesaving treatment. He said that the van was Garodi steel’s contribution in strengthening the effort of the administration in providing better healthcare to the people of the district.
